Carleen K. Rhodes

Board Member

Carleen Rhodes has worked with nonprofit organizations for over 40 years.  Carleen became the President of The Saint Paul Foundation, Minnesota’s largest community foundation, in 2003 and, with that appointment, also became the key staff lead for two private foundation clients:  F. R. Bigelow Foundation and Mardag Foundation. She also managed the staff that supported Minnesota Community Foundation, the quickest growing community foundation in the state.  In 2006 she oversaw the alignment of the two community foundations under one board and, in 2012, the creation of the Minnesota Philanthropy Partners brand to describe the many separate foundations and affiliates that share expertise and support systems.

Previously she served as President of Minnesota Children’s Museum, as a partner in the consulting firm Bentz Whaley Flessner, as a fundraising professional for several nonprofits including the College of Saint Benedict and American Heart Association, and as an English teacher.

As a newly retired professional, Carleen is very interested in finding ways to repurpose her skills and tap her connections to benefit communities. She wants to continue learning and finding new ways to give back for the privileges she has been afforded in her career.  She also wants time to play with friends and her two granddaughters.

Carleen serves on the boards of Commonbond, Jeremiah Program, Montessori Center of Minnesota, Center for Victims of Torture, and Regions Hospital Foundation.
