Privacy Policy

We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of visitors to our Web site. The following discloses our policies concerning the gathering and sharing of information through this Web site.

In brief, our policies are these:

  • We monitor general trends in the use of our Web site but do not track individual visitors.
  • We do not collect information concerning individual visitors unless that information is voluntarily disclosed, for example by filling out our online membership form.
  • At any time, users who have signed up for a specific service can have their names removed from the relevant mailing list.
  • Please view our Donor Privacy Policy to understand how we protect the privacy of those who make financial contributions to CVT.

Normal Web site Usage
You can visit all portions of CVT's Web site without telling us who you are and without revealing any personal information. The only information we collect from a normal Web site visit is the name of your Internet service provider, the browser and type of machine you are using, the Web site that referred you to us, the pages you request and the date and time of those requests.

This information is collected on an aggregate basis only. For example, CVT tracks which pages are most popular among visitors as a whole, but we do not track information on which pages an individual visitor might look at during a visit to our site. We do not collect any other information, such as the name, mailing address, email address or phone number of the visitor without the visitor's knowledge and permission.

All information we collect is used for internal review only and not shared with third parties. We use this information to generate statistics and measure site activity to improve the usefulness of the site to our visitors.

Use of Cookies
Cookies are pieces of information that are stored on your computer and are used for record keeping purposes. We use cookies to make visiting and using our Web site easier. Cookies can help us see which parts of our Web site are the most and least popular, and provide us direction to improve our users’ online experience.

Collection of Personally Identifiable Information
There are instances when CVT requests personally identifiable information, such as name, mailing address, email address and possibly additional information, to provide you with specific services, correspondence or emails.

CVT does not sell, rent or exchange email addresses. The CVT Web site will not post personal contact information for volunteers, including email address, street address and phone numbers, without the individual's consent.

Occasionally we make our mailing list available to other organizations with related causes. CVT supporters can request their name, address and other identifiable information not be shared via email at cvt [at] cvt [dot] org (Member Services), phone at 1-877-265-8775 or by checking the appropriate box on a return mailing device.

Persons who join or donate via the Web site and provide an email address may receive emails from CVT with information about our programs and services. Each email message includes an option to remove yourself from the mailing list, and you may also opt out by sending an email to cvt [at] cvt [dot] org (Member Services) or by calling us at 1-877-265-8775.

CVT asks for your email address on our subscription, donation and advocacy action pages. This allows us to provide you with email communications and to acknowledge receipt of donations received on our Web site. CVT does not sell, rent, or lend the email addresses of our subscribers or visitors to the Web site. This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. CVT makes every effort to insure the secure collection and transmission of sensitive user information using industry accepted data collection and encryption methodologies. CVT's third-party online donation service, Convio, has stringent security measures in place, including encryption and policies governing employee access to personal information.

Why it's safe to give online
CVT uses secure server software (SSL) to process your credit card gift. It encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name and address so that it cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet.

CVT uses industry-standard security software and systems. Credit card information and transactions are secured by Verisign. When you are on a secure donation page, you will see a closed lock symbol in your browser window. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, it will be in lower right corner of your screen.
